⚜️Ghostwriting Retreat in New Orleans⚜️

October 3–6, 2025
Where craft gets wicked good.

Step into the story—and make a living writing other people’s.
This is more than a getaway. It’s an all-in, high-level ghostwriting experience designed to sharpen your craft, elevate your confidence, and help you pitch like a pro. Take the first step toward joining this unforgettable retreat.

WHAT YOU'LL GET...

  • 🛏️ 3 nights in a luxury New Orleans home near the French Quarter & Garden District

  • 🥂 All meals included: Jazz brunch, witchy dinner, and curated local eats

  • 🚌 Two unforgettable experiences: a haunted ghost tour and a Garden District walking tour

  • ✍️ Four expert-led writing sessions + 1:1 coaching with Mary Ghostwriting

  • 🎁 Bonus extras: morning yoga (optional), a ghostwriter swag bag, a free copy of Mary’s upcoming book, and Founding Retreat Crew perks you won’t get anywhere else

Accommodations

We’re taking over the entire first floor of a classic New Orleans home in the Lower Garden District—just blocks from Magazine Street and a quick streetcar ride from the French Quarter. With historic charm, cozy corners, and a laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect backdrop for creativity and connection.

You’ll have your own private room to rest, write, and recharge—but the real magic happens in the shared spaces: inviting nooks to chat or journal, a stocked kitchen for impromptu ideas over tea, and a courtyard that opens onto a semi-private pool (yes, really).

This isn’t a hotel. It’s a house with soul—and you won’t be just a guest. I’ll be staying there with you, hosting, guiding, and hanging out between sessions and streetcar rides.

What You'll Eat

We’re not just feeding your creativity—we’re feeding you, too.

Each day starts with breakfast at the house, shared around the kitchen table or poolside if the morning’s warm enough (it usually is). When we’re not out soaking up the culture and flavor of New Orleans, we’ll gather for lunches, dinners, and snacks right at home—casual, flavorful, and designed to keep the energy (and the conversation) flowing.

Expect a mix of local flair and writer-fuel staples, with plenty of options to accommodate dietary needs. You’ll also enjoy:

🥂 Jazz Brunch at The Court of Two Sisters

Brunch is an art form in New Orleans—and The Court of Two Sisters is where it goes to church.

We’ll step through an ivy-draped archway into one of the French Quarter’s most iconic courtyards, where live jazz floats through the air and brunch isn’t just a meal—it’s a ritual. The buffet? Legendary. Think shrimp and grits, crawfish pasta, custom-made omelets, carving stations, and desserts that don’t know how to behave.

This isn’t brunch for the sake of brunch. It’s a sensory experience wrapped in wrought iron, history, and a soundtrack that makes everything taste better. It’s the kind of place where writers linger, stories take root, and seconds are non-negotiable.

🌙 Witchy Dinner at Tatlo

We’ll conclude our retreat with an immersive dinner at Tatlo, a unique dining experience located on Bourbon Street, in the heart of the French Quarter.

Tatlo blends Filipino culinary traditions with elements of mysticism, offering a setting that encourages reflection and connection.

The ambiance is thoughtfully curated—dim lighting, evocative decor, and an atmosphere that invites introspection. You'll gather with fellow retreat participants to share a meal that celebrates the journey you've undertaken together.

Throughout the evening, you'll have the opportunity to receive an optional tarot reading from one of Tatlo's experienced practitioners, providing a moment of personal insight as you prepare to embark on your next chapter.

Private Tours

✨ Literary & Ghost Tours

New Orleans is a city where stories live in the walls—and we’re stepping inside two of its most iconic neighborhoods to meet them.

📚 Garden District Literary Tour

We’ll stroll beneath the oaks and past the wrought-iron balconies of the Garden District, where elegance meets eccentricity.

This neighborhood has inspired the likes of Anne Rice, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Walt Whitman. Our guide from Lucky Bean Tours will lead us through tales of literary legends and the empire-builders of the 1800s, with a peek into the storied Lafayette Cemetery No. 1.

👻 French Quarter Ghost & Literary Lore Tour

As the sun sets, we’ll delve into the French Quarter’s shadowy past.

This isn’t your typical ghost tour. Our evening walk will intertwine eerie tales of hauntings with stories of literary greats like Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner, who found muse in these very streets. Led by Lucky Bean Tours, expect a blend of the macabre and the poetic.

Writing Workshops

✍️ Writing Workshops That Hit Different

These aren’t lectures. They’re working sessions—hands-on, high-level, and built for transformation. Each one is designed to help you walk away with sharper skills, clearer direction, and more confidence in your voice and your value as a ghostwriter.

🔍 Interview Like a Psychic

Learn how to read between the lines and hear what your subject isn’t saying. This workshop gives you the tools to ask smarter questions, dig deeper, and extract the story under the story—so you're not just collecting quotes, you're capturing essence. You’ll walk away with strategies for leading interviews that feel more like conversations and result in richer, more usable content.

 🎭 Steal Their Voice (Ethically)

This is the ghostwriting superpower: making your writing sound like them, not you. We’ll break down how to mirror tone, rhythm, vocabulary, and point of view—so your clients feel seen and your drafts get approved faster. You’ll practice adapting voice across formats and learn how to build a reusable voice map you can bring to any project.

💼 Pitch Like You're Worth Every Penny

If you’re tired of “content mills” and $100 blog posts, this one’s for you. You’ll learn how to position yourself as a premium ghostwriter, pitch clients who get it, and confidently quote rates that reflect your skill. We’ll walk through what to say, how to say it, and how to stop undercharging for high-value work.

 🧭 Map Your Next Chapter

This final session is a strategic deep dive into you. Whether you're just starting out or scaling up, we’ll build a clear, personal growth plan based on where you are and where you want to go. This is your space to reflect, get unstuck, and walk away with real steps—not vague inspiration. You’ll share your goals (if you choose) at our closing dinner at Tatlo, turning this plan into a personal intention.

Ghostwriting Talks You Can't Google

Ghostwriting is a unique and brilliant career, and most of what you need to know is not readily available on the internet.

This retreat gives you access to the conversations that don’t happen in public: how to price a ghostwritten memoir, what to do when a client edits the soul out of your work, how to protect your voice and your paycheck. You’ll be surrounded by writers who get it—people who live in the margins, write in other people’s voices, and know exactly what it takes to make a living doing this work.

These aren’t panels. These are real, unfiltered, writer-to-writer talks—around the breakfast table, by the pool, after a tarot reading, mid-laugh over coffee.

No name tags. No fluff. Just the table you’ve been looking for—and the people you didn’t know you needed.

All About YOU

Whether you’re building your ghostwriting business or leveling up an existing one, this is your space to get real answers—and real support.

💬 Actionable Group Sessions

This isn’t a “sit and listen” kind of retreat. You’ll have space to talk through your business, your goals, and the creative (or client) blocks holding you back.

👤 1:1 Coaching with Mary

You’ll get a private session with me during the retreat—no generic advice, no time wasted. We’ll dig into your niche, your pricing, your process, or whatever else you need to move forward with more clarity and confidence.

 🤝 Small Group Strategy Circles

In addition to solo time, you’ll join guided group conversations where we’ll tackle big questions together: how to scale without burnout, how to get better clients, how to stand out without selling out. You’ll learn from each other, build trust, and leave with strategies you can actually use.
